Matt & Karen's Soggy Adventure

Maybe I don’t want to go home just yet....

Well after the sail from hell (mark 2 if you remember the trip from Vieques to Culebra) it was good to be in a place that we knew and that there was no pressure to sight see or be the tourist so we settled in and relaxed for a couple of days, just doing the small things like washing the boat down. ... << MORE >>

St Thomas to Nevis, no Dominica, no Guadeloupe, no Martinique, no St Lucia, no Bequia, no Grenada, no Bequia

Well 3 days ago we set off from St Thomas to Nevis (or St Kitts depending on how we were feeling when we got east). The winds were to be light – 10 to 15 knots from the east to north east and the seas slight – 1 to 1 ½ m also from the east, but we planned to motor or at best motor sail for this first leg down to Grenada to meet Al and Boofa at the beginning of June. ... << MORE >>

4 Virgins, Several Rum Punches 20 ft men dancing in the Street ... Its time to move on!

It is getting near that time of year when it is prudent to be south or north of here, so we are now making plans to head back down to Grenada, hopefully with a couple of stops in St Kitts or Nevis, Martinique and then Grenada, but like always, it is the wind that will finally decide where we are going – at the moment it looks like it might be straight to Grenada! So it seems 4 virgins (2 Spanish, 2 US) is enough for me in one year and those Brits will just have to wait ... << MORE >>

Culebra Week 2 and a bit...

I know I don’t write for so long and then two blogs in two weeks – what can I say – there ain’t alot to do on Culebra and we are waiting for deliveries (again) and now the weather for heading east is not so good, so we are just hanging again.
This week wasn’t so bad, we shared a hire car with Bill and Jeanette (Sea Lion) on Friday and toured the island (yes the whole island) and it is really beautiful. We started by heading over to Flamenco Beach which I have to say ...

The Come-Back!

Okay the pre-requisite 3 (yes that’s right a whole 3) blog fans have written in or phoned or come to the boat and requested that I pull my finger out and continue writing the blog. Okay they only emailed me and one was my god-mother but hey I just paid the 80 bucks to keep the domain name for the next 5 years so I thought I had better do something with it!

So where are we you ask (ok only 3 people asked that question – it would have been 4, but Mum ...

“How About Puerto Rico Mum?” - January 2010

I was so surprised to hear myself say “Yes!” and Matt and Karen quickly set everything in motion, saying it would be a good opportunity to celebrate my end of year ‘80th’ AND it was calm where they were anchored in Salinas, like glass! With only a little over 3 weeks to get organized there was hardly time to get too excited or to change my mind. I set off on 2nd February and it was just wonderful to see them looking so happy and healthy, Matt even bronzed, as they met me in San Juan Airport at 10.30p.m.<< MORE >>

New Caribbean Catamaran Haulout Facility – L420 Friendly

ust a quick post to let people know Medregal Village (M&M Marina) in the Golfo de Cariaco, Venezuela has recently started offering catamaran haulout, live on board and storage services, lifting the catamarans under the bridgedeck as recommended by Lagoon.<< MORE >>

We are where we weren’t goin’ to be!

Way back when we were in May in Martinique, Karen and I agreed that Venezuela, particularly the mainland and most probably the islands were too dangerous for us to even contemplating going to.<< MORE >>

You know about Carnival – Don’t you?

Well, our planning (you know that other blog entry that is under construction) has included staying in Grenada for Carnival. Apparently it is not as big as Trinidad or Rio but not that far behind. I had read about Mas Camps (read Masquerade Camps) in the local tourist guide (see attached pdf – reproduced without permission but if someone from Grenada Tourism wishes me to remove it I will) and thought it would be interesting to go and visit one on the lead up to Carnival (6-11 August).

Cutty's Island Tour

Thursday morning rolled around and our last minute calls to Cutty to arrange an island tour yesterday worked out as we met Trish and Robert (Bristol Rose) and Diana and Gerald (Whiskers) at the marina where Cutty was waiting with taxi for our first ever island tour. Already on board were Kerry and Mal (Hasta La Vista). This made the tour a complete Southern Hemisphere tour with 6 Aussies and 2 token S.Africans. << MORE >>
